Ombre All Day

In beauty, as with everything, necessity is the mother of invention. From a haircolouring  technique that added uplifting colours while removing the need for regular root touch up salon stints came ombre dyes, it could be argued. Now ombre is everywhere – colour-layered eyeshadows and lips permeated the F/W22 catwalks; walk into any nail bar and the hottest service on the salon list is ombre nails (I get mine retouched regularly, they’re the most instant autumn pick-me-up on the beauty circuit rn.)

Chanel’s ombre flap bags are already one of the most collectible carriers in the stratosphere and, unlike its delicate but eyepopping graduating colours, the ombre trend shows no sign of fading. From hair to fashion and now beauty, ombre is fun, youthful, contemporary and, perhaps most practically, it gifts the potential for multiple colour pairings, from shade matching to colour clashes; ombres also dazzle against a backdrop of block colours that work like a blank canvas allowing the shades to positively POP.
