Symbiotic both with dance and the narrative of one of the world’s most romanticised jewellery maisons, poetry in motion describes the aesthetic and character of Van Cleef and Arpels. The mesmeric dance of the love affair between its founders – Alfred Van Cleef and Estelle Arpels – evoked in the house’s iconic high jewellery ballet creati9ons to the complications of its watches and seat on Place Vendome.
The veteran fine jewellery house is bringing this concept to 21st century audiences with the launch of its inaugural Dance Reflections festival. Situated across the Tate Modern, Royal Opera House and Sadlers Wells it is both a revival and kaleidoscope of the leading lights in postmodern contemporary dance – from pioneers Lucinda Childs and Trisha Brown to choreographers des jour Serafine1369 and Boris Charmatz.
From the ethereal to the primal, across the minimal, primal and absurd, through backdrops of shadows, forests and clothes that become the movement and disciplines exploring time, confinement and the psyche, with its first stop in London, Dance Reflections will run from 9th-23rd March then take place every year in a different global location. Prepare to be shocked, inspired, wowed and moved. Today London, tomorrow the world!
